Made using the Godot engine in 55 hours for the Mini Jame Gam #16!

note - the game runs best when downloaded

You have been trapped in a lab by evil scientists, escape your cell using the air ducts and wreak havoc on the lab! Try and get the max score of 850!

Controls:

WASD/Arrow keys - move

Space/Enter - enter/exit air vent, destroy objects

How to play:

Enter and exit air ducts from the vents (visible by the shadows on the floor)

Destroy computers to earn chaos, be careful the sound doesn't attract the guards!

Destroying multiple computers gives a combo bonus, which resets when you enter a vent

The game ends if you are caught by the guards or destroy all the objects

I enjoyed playing this a lot today. I believe I got the high score too, barring any sort of sneaky bugs ;)

Thank you and congratulations! Here is your trophy:

Love this game. Graphics, Soundtrack, Idea.... :))

Thank you for your kind words!

Do you keep developping Duct Ape?

I may do! I think it could make a nice mobile game if I change the controls to be tap to move. It would be fun to introduce new mechanics like laser tripwires, invisibility serums, or mario kart style banana peels.

(⁀ᗢ⁀) yes. I like those ideas. Specially the laser tripwires. Lasers would also bring an optical upgrade. I was more in the direction of hacking  the PCs to mainpulate nearby functionalities like switching locked doors to come to another floor/level. Getting your way out of a bigger building or complex (imagine you have do go through a looong duct (with that music !!) to another building to get a keycard or so...^^)

I would like serums in general for different purposes. Maybe to make the ape smarter. Or mixing others in the profs lunches in the cafeteria. But  I really like the field of views and the sound waves. Just playing it again. The duct sfx and music is just fitting and fantastic. From where do you got the music?

I am not the mobile game type. Bigger screen and PC would be fine for me ;)

In any case I think you should continue !

Those are great ideas! Adding keys and doors could give the levels a cool structure kind of like Zelda dungeons. I got the music from bensound.com which has loads of royalty-free music, I think the track is perfect! The air duct noises are made by randomly picking from 2 different step sounds every 0.3 seconds and randomly shifting their pitch :)
